Jeff Gates

Managing Partner

Mr. Gates founded Gates Capital Management in 1996. He started the ECF Value Fund in 1996 after spending more than 10 years in high yield bond research and sales. From 1990 to 1996, Mr. Gates was a high yield salesperson and from 1995, a Director, at Schroder & Co. At Schroder, Mr. Gates specialized in delivering well-researched investment ideas in high yield bonds and post-restructuring equities to mutual fund managers, hedge funds accounts and control investors. From 1988 to 1990 Mr. Gates worked as a research analyst in the high yield bond group at Schroder where he focused on identifying undervalued bonds of companies in financial restructurings. Mr. Gates began his career in 1984 as a research analyst in the high yield bond group at Kidder, Peabody & Company.

Dax Vlassis

Managing Partner

Mr. Vlassis joined Gates Capital Management in 1999 as a research analyst. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Vlassis was an equity research analyst at Schroder & Co. where he focused on small and mid-cap value equities. From 1996 to 1998 he was an equity analyst at Value Line. From 1994-1996, Mr. Vlassis was a trading assistant at Fidelity Investments.

Justin Boisseau

Managing Partner

Mr. Boisseau joined Gates Capital in 2003 as a research analyst. Prior to joining Gates Capital Management, Mr. Boisseau spent four years in investment banking at Salomon Smith Barney where he was a Vice President in the Financial Entrepreneurs Group. At Salomon, Mr. Boisseau helped complete high yield and equity offerings and also assisted with mergers and acquisitions for buyout firms.
